WELCOME BACK TO THE CITY OF ROSES

Yesterday was a rainy day with the exception of our little sunshine that came over to visit. Jay and I got our baby fix for sure. The Mayfields also stopped in and got some snuggling time. Glad to be back to the city of roses, but this also means the rainy weather that we have become so familiar with growing up in Portland. My garden loves the rain and really so do I. Jay is happy to have me home and missed my home cooked meals (I swear that man loves to eat). Now if he would only catch me a fish to cook for dinner. Too rainy and nasty out to go fishing today, so maybe tomorrow will be a fishing day for him.

SPRING BREAK IS OVER

I enjoyed taking a break with the Mayfield family. Flew down to Phoenix AZ to watch my nephew Jordan play baseball in a high school level invitational tournament. I got to see two of his games (Jordan got some playing time) and also a Seattle Mariners game at spring training field against the San Diego Padres in Peoria AZ. We were hosted by cousin Fran and Barney in Surprise AZ which means we got to learn how to play pickleball! I got to do some of my favorite things besides watching baseball which included shopping (everywhere including Scottsdale), sightseeing and of course, eating! The Mayfields packed PLENTY of snacks for the road trip. I should know all the words to Lady Antebellum's song, but still can't remember them all. Sydney's friend Hannah thinks our family is crazy (doesn't every family act like this?) We went to the Grand Canyon, drove over Hoover Dam and ended up in Las Vegas. I would do it all over again, but don't know if they could put up with all my endless chattering in the car.

FIRST DAY OF SPRING

Jay has been out on his boat in the Willamette River and the Columbia River the past three days trying to catch me a big fish to fix for dinner. We had spaghetti for dinner tonight. Maybe next week we will have fish.

While Jay was out on the river, I stayed home and enjoyed the beautiful 70 degree weather in the rose city. I did some yard work and then treated myself to a good book, sitting on the deck, sipping my beverage of choice today (see if you can guess what I was drinking).

SPRING IS HERE!

Tomorrow is the first day of spring, but I think it came a day early. It was 70 degrees. Worked in my flower beds today pulling weeds. Oh my aching back! Spring break! Looking forward to baseball, baseball, baseball!

HAPPY ST PATRICK'S DAY

Happy St Patrick's day to all who are irish and those who just want to be irish for today. Here is a picture of my cute little Alexis. She's not a leprechaun, but wearing green anyways!

BOAT RIDE ON THE WILLAMETTE RIVER

Jay was in his element today as we put the boat in the water for the first time. Everything seems to work just fine, the boat didn't fill up and water, but I was wearing my life vest just in case! Next I expect him to catch me some big fish and bring home lots of dungeness crab!

HOUSEWORK

Jay fixed my vacuum cleaner hose, so does that mean I have to clean house?

ALEXISAURIS?

Jay and I got to snuggle Alexis yesterday. Wow, twice in one week. We are on cloud 9 and so in love with that little girl. Here is the little dino! She is smiling now and oh so cute!

WEEKEND IS HERE!

Taxes were signed and submitted yesterday. YAY! Laundry done for the week. YAY! Grocery shopping done for the week. YAY! Now on to spring cleaning--craft room, office, closets, etc. Hope to make several trips to GW!

TAX DAY

Today is tax day for me. I have an appointment with the tax preparer and hopefully the outcome will be good. I should have taken care of this already, but procrastinate is my middle name. She has been doing our taxes for over 30 years, so it should be short and sweet. The sooner I get it done, the less stress I may have this week.

WALKING IS GOOD FOR YOU

They say walking is the best exercise you can do for yourself. I have been trying to stay with a walking regimen, but somehow don't follow through as I should. Living next to Glendoveer Golf Course you would think it would be easy to just go over there and walk every day. Unfortunately, exercise is not my favorite thing to do--right up there with housework. But I plug along and hope it soon becomes a habit with me. I have started walking with a good friend on Tuesdays. We meet down by OMSI and make the loop on the east bank esplanade, over the steel bridge, along waterfront park and back across the good ole Willamette River. Must have been at least 4 miles, not sure, but my muscles say so. Can hardly wait until next week. Anyways, good time and good company.

SUNNY DAY

Hard to believe it is still the middle of winter, sun is shining and it is 60 degrees! I will enjoy while I can. I live in Portland Oregon and the rains will be back. I should be out working in my yard, but decided just to enjoy the day with no chores.

GETTING INTO A REGULAR ROUTINE

Well, getting into a routine being home all the time is quite challenging. Job search, cleaning, laundry, cooking, gardening. When did I have time to have a regular job and career? Now to decide what I want to be when I grow up. What career change is in store for me?

ALEXIS ONE MONTH OLD 2-28-2010

Alexis was one month old on 2-28-2010. A party in her honor was held with lots of family and friends. She was a trooper going from one person to another. Bryan and Vanessa were very gracious in letting her be held by so many people. Both sets of grandparents had to step aside also. We are just so proud to show her off!
